Victor Bentum was the primary second baseman for the Ghanaian national team in their first major event, the 1999 All Africa Games. He also played 3B, SS and DH on the tournament, hitting .412 with 5 RBI in five games, while making 3 errors. He tied Joshua Amponsah for third on the team in hits (7), behind Paul Manoma and Jimmy Davies. Only Manoma and George Antwi had better averages among the starters.
