Biographical Information[edit]
Vern Ruhle served as pitching coach for the Houston Astros (1997-2000), Philadelphia Phillies (2001-2002), New York Mets (2003), the Billings Mustangs (2004) and Cincinnati Reds (2005). He was also an assistant coach at California State University, Fullerton (1990) and the University of Oklahoma (1991-1995).
He was diagnosed with cancer (multiple myeloma) during spring training in 2006 and took a leave of absence from the Reds. The cancer took his life less than a year later.
