Biographical Information[edit]

Vern Hoscheit took over as manager for the New York Yankees farm club, the McAlester Rockets in the Sooner State League in 1948, leading them to the best record in the league. He stayed with McAlester through 1951, taking league titles in 50 and 51. He moved up to the Joplin Miners in the Western Association in 1952, guiding them to the best record and playoff win. He moved to the Three-I League the next taking over the Quincy Gems from 1953-1956 and winning league titles in 53 and 54 (his 4th and 5th in a row). When the Yankees switched their affiliate from Quincy to the Peoria Chiefs, Hoschiet moved to Peoria in 1957. In 1958, he moved to the Greensboro Yankees in the Carolina League and guided them for two years. Hoscheit was the last president of the Three-I League in 1960-1961. Hoscheit was also the manager of the GCL Mets in 1983.

Hoscheit was then a Baltimore Orioles scout from 1962 to 1967 and an Oriole coach in 1968. From 1965-1967, he also was in charge of the Orioles team in the Florida Instructional League. He was then a member of the Oakland Athletics coaching staff in 1969-1974. In 1976, he joined the California Angels. In 1983, Hoscheit guided the GCL Mets and from 1984 to 1987, he was a New York Mets coach.
