Valeri Semeniouk was the first DH for a Ukrainian national team in a European Championship when he went 0 for 3 against Erik Lommerde and Rob Cordemans of the Netherlands on day one of the 1995 European Championship, Ukraine's debut in the Euros. He got his first hit off Spain's José Becerra. The outfielder finished the event at .267/.313/.267 with one RBI in 7 games; he had 6 putouts, an assist and an error. He tied Alexandre Inozemtsev for 4th on the team in hits (4). [1]
