Biographical Information[edit]
Valentin Aleksandrov tied for the Russian League lead with five triples in 1998. [1] Pitching for the Russian national team in the 2003 Baseball World Cup, he allowed nine hits, four walks and seven runs (six earned) in 3 1/3 IP while striking out one; he did not have the team's worst ERA as four hurlers were higher. [2] He also was with them for the 2005 European Championship, when he lost a 5-4 duel to Mattia Salsi of traditional power Italy and closed out Oleg Korneev's 8-0 win over Croatia. [3]
