Biographical Information

Valentin Aleksandrov tied for the Russian League lead with five triples in 1998. Pitching for the Russian national team in the 2003 Baseball World Cup, he allowed nine hits, four walks and seven runs (six earned) in 3 1/3 IP while striking out one; he did not have the team's worst ERA as four hurlers were higher. He also was with them for the 2005 European Championship, when he lost a 5-4 duel to Mattia Salsi of traditional power Italy and closed out Oleg Korneev's 8-0 win over Croatia.
