Biographical Information[edit]
Outfielder Val Heim played briefly in the majors for the Chicago White Sox in 1942. He made his big league debut on August 31st against the Philadelphia Athletics and got a hit in his first plate appearance, singling off pitcher Lum Harris in the first inning and eventually scoring. He hit .200 with 7 RBIs in 13 games for the team. He missed the next three seasons while serving in the Navy in World War II but returned to the minors after the war.
On August 26, 2019, Heim became the Oldest Living MLB Player following the passing of Tom Jordan. He passed away on November 21st of that year, shortly after his 99th birthday.
