Biographical Information[edit]
Víctor Díaz was drafted by the Los Angeles Dodgers as a draft-and-follow pick in the 37th round of the 2000 amateur draft. After a year of junior college, he was signed by scouts Mike Leuzinger and Bob Szymkowski in May 2001. He made his pro debut that summer with the GCL Dodgers. In July of 2003 the Dodgers traded Diaz along with Joselo Diaz and Kole Strayhorn to the New York Mets for Jeromy Burnitz.
Díaz hit .211/.286/.263 for the Águilas Cibaeñas in the 2008 Caribbean Series. Díaz signed with the Hanwha Eagles for 2009. He went 1 for 5 with a three-run homer in his KBO debut, on April 4th against the SK Wyverns.
His father Víctor Díaz Sr. played for the Dominican national team in 1970 and in the St. Louis Cardinals chain from 1970-1972.
