Biographical Information[edit]

Outfielder Tyrone Taylor reached the majors with the Milwaukee Brewers at the end of the 2019 season, after having been drafted in the 2nd round of the 2012 amateur draft out of a high school in California. He hit .400 in 15 games in his first taste of the Show, although that was by going just 4 for 10 as a lot of his appearances were as a defensive replacement in the outfield. In 2020, he spent the season with the team as a back-up outfielder, although because that was the season that was limited to 60 games by the COVID-19 pandemic, he ended up appearing in just 22 games. This time, he got 38 at-bats and hit .237 while hitting his first two big league homers. He saw some action in the postseason for the first time, going 0 for 5 in two games as the Brewers were swept by the Los Angeles Dodgers in the Wild Card Series.

Taylor finally got a significant number of at-bats in 2021, when he appeared in 93 games and had 271 plate appearances for Milwaukee. He hit .247 with 12 homers and 43 RBIs for an OPS+ of 108 and got starts at all three outfield positions as he was the prototypical fourth outfielder. The Brewers returned to the postseason, but this time he only got 2 at-bats in their loss to the Atlanta Braves in the Division Series, making outs both times. In 2022, his playing time continued to increase as he got into 120 games and had 405 plate appearances, during which he .233 with 17 homers and 51 RBIs. His OPS+ was again above 100, as it had been in his first three seasons, but barely so at 102. By then he was basically the team's regular centerfielder, making 75 starts at the position. However, his production fell in 2023, when he was back to being a back-up outfielder, playing mainly right and left field. He hit .234 in 81 games, with 10 homers and 35 RBIs. His OPS+ fell to 91 largely because of a very poor on-base percentage of .267 (he drew just 8 walks in 243 plate appearances). The Brewers made it back to the postseason after missing out the previous year and he finally managed a hit. It was a two-run homer off Brandon Pfaadt of the Arizona Diamondbacks in the 2nd inning of Game 1 of the Wild Card Series on October 3rd. The blast put Milwaukee ahead, 3-0, at that point, but it was all downhill after that as Arizona came back to win the game, 6-3, then completed the sweep the next day, while Tyrone was hitless in his other seven at-bats over the two games.

On December 20, 2023, he was traded to the New York Mets along with P Adrian Houser in return for pitching prospect Coleman Crow.
