Biographical Information[edit]

Tung-Jung Wu has played in the CPBL [1]

Wu was selected by the CTBC Brothers in the 4th round of the 2016 CPBL draft. Wu collected his first career hit off Wei-Lun Pan on September 18 in his rookie year. He hit .273/.338/.368 with 7 stolen bases in the next year. In 2018, Wu only played 44 games, and batted .255/.333/.383. He mainly played the backup role since the Brothers already had two All-Star infielders in Chih-Hsien Chiang and Chih-Sheng Lin.[2] When the Brothers unexpectedly released Chiang, their second base spot was opened for competition. Wu caught this chance and won the starting second baseman spot in 2019. He hit .300/.396/.388 with 3 dingers and won his first Gold Glove this year. He extended his outstanding performance in 2020, when he batted .288/.359/.391 with 2 home runs and won his first Best Ten award this year as the league's top second baseman.

In 2021, Wu was placed in the eligible list for Wei Chuan Dragons and being picked in the expansion draft. He played .237/.307/.301 with only 1 dinger, which were the worst since his rookie year. The Dragons still named him as captain in 2022 and expected the experienced second baseman to lead the young Dragons. Wu mainly reserved this year, and hit .235/.350/.265 with zero homers.
