Biographical Information[edit]
Tsuyoshi Nishioka pitched in Nippon Pro Baseball and for the Japanese national team.
Nishioka represented Japan in the 1986 Amateur World Series. The Yakult Swallows drafted him in the first round of the 1986 NPB draft. He had a 3.75 ERA in 27 appearances in his rookie year, but his ERA rose to 7.08 in 1988. He pitched for the class A-advanced Salinas Spurs in 1991 (4-7, 2 Sv, 4.07), but he was unable to come back to the big club in Japan. He was traded to Orix BlueWave for Koji Mori in 1992, and Nishioka announced his retirement after spending 3 seasons in the NPB Farm Leagues.
Overall, Nishioka was 0-4 with a 4.74 ERA and pitched 68 1/3 innings in 2 seasons in NPB.
