Biographical Information[edit]

Troy Wilder pitched for five seasons in the minors, peaking at AA.

The Cleveland Indians took Wilder in the 19th round of the 1976 amateur draft. He went 2-2 with a 3.00 ERA in his pro debut with the Batavia Trojans. In '77, he pitched for Batavia (2-0, 2 Sv, 4.26) and the Waterloo Indians (2-1, 24 H in 12 IP, 11.25). With Waterloo for 1978, he improved to 1-3, 3.38. He was with Waterloo (7-3, 1.97) and the Chattanooga Lookouts (6-1, 5.35) in 1979. Had he qualified, he would have ranked second in the Midwest League in ERA behind Doug Jones. He wrapped up in 1980 with the Redwood Pioneers (2-1, 2.77) and Chattanooga (5-7, 4.81).

Overall, Troy went 27-18 with three saves and a 4.02 ERA in 78 minor league games. Wilder was wild enough to walk 186 in 394 innings.
