Biographical Information[edit]

The Montreal Expos drafted Troy Mattes in the 16th round of the 1993 Amateur Draft from Riverview High School. Mattes gradually worked his way up through the Expos minor league system and made his major league on June 19, 2001. In his brief major league career he had a 3-3 record with an ERA of 6.00 before injuries sidelined him. Mattes did not pitch at all in 2002 and only briefly in the Expos minor league system in 2003. The next two years he pitched in the independent Atlantic League with the Long Island Ducks (2004) and Lancaster Barnstormers (2005).

The Baltimore Orioles hired Mattes in 2007 to coach pitchers in the lower levels of their minor league system.

Mattes did not coach professionally after 2012. Since 2014 he has been the pitching coordinator for the Inspiration Academy Lions in Bradenton, FL.
