Biographical Information[edit]
Tripp Gibson umpired his first major league game during the 2013 season when he worked as a fill-in umpire. He spent the entire 2014 season in the role, then was added to Major League Baseball's full-time umpiring staff before the 2015 season.
He worked Pool C games in the 2017 World Baseball Classic. He was the home plate umpire in Game 4 of the 2022 World Series in which four pitchers for the Houston Astros combined to throw a no-hitter, only the second in World Series history.
His hometown of Mayfield, KY was devastated by a series of tornadoes in December 2021, causing over 70 deaths. After the storms, he immediately rushed back from his current residence in Seattle, WA to assist in the relief efforts.
