Team History[edit]
The Tri-State Tomahawks were original members of the Frontier League in 1993, but they barely lasted two weeks. They played their games at Larry Addington Field, attached to Boyd County High School in Cannonsburg, KY, although they were supposed to represent the nearby larger town of Ashland, KY. The ambitious tri-state moniker refers to the nearby states of Ohio and West Virginia. However, the team only drew some 100 fans on average to its games, so the multi-state appeal of the team left something to be desired. The team was dissolved on July 15th, along with the similarly attendance-challenged West Virginia Coal Sox, leaving the league to complete its inaugural season with only six teams.
