Biographical Information[edit]

Third baseman Trey Lipscomb was drafted by the Washington Nationals in the 3rd round of the 2022 amateur draft, out of the University of Tennessee where he had taken part in the 2021 College World Series.

He began his pro career in 2022 with the Fredericksburg Nationals of the Carolina League, hitting .299 in 23 games. In 2023, he split his season between the Wilmington Blue Rocks of the South Atlantic League and the Harrisburg Senators of the Eastern League. In 129 games, he hit .272/.311/.419 with 14 homers and 72 RBIs. He then played in the Arizona Fall League after the season. Following the season, he won a minor league Gold Glove for his defensive play at third base.

In 2024, he was scheduled to open the season in AAA with the Rochester Red Wings but plans changed when 3B Nick Senzel was injured in a freak accident during pre-game drills on Opening Day. Trey was called up to the Nationals on March 30th and he made his debut as the starting third baseman that day against the Cincinnati Reds. He went 1 for 4, then on March 31st his his first career homer off Buck Farmer as part of a 2-for-3 day.
