Biographical Information[edit]

Pitcher Trey Hearne was taken by the Cincinnati Reds in the 49th round of the 2001 amateur draft, but did not sign. He did sign after being taken by the St. Louis Cardinals in the 28th round of the 2005 amateur draft. He was signed by scout Joe Almaraz.

He started off well, going 4-2 with a 2.56 ERA and 9.8 K/9 IP ratio in 38 2/3 innings for the New Jersey Cardinals in 2005 and 12-3 with a 2.25 mark in 128 innings for the Swing of the Quad Cities in 2006. After a down 2007 (5-11, 5.95 ERA), Hearne went to Mexico for 2008, going 5-1 with a 2.94 ERA in nine starts. The Cardinals brought him back for 2009 and he went 14-4 with a 2.92 ERA in 154 1/3 innings between two teams, including his first stint in stateside Triple A. He struggled to a 4-4, 5.22 line in 2010 to wrap up his career.

Overall, Hearne was 44-25 with a 3.72 ERA in 146 games (78 starts) over six seasons.
