Biographical Information[edit]

Toshihito Abe played in Nippon Pro Baseball for 7 years.

Abe was MVP of the Sendai Big-Six Universities Baseball League in the summer of 2010, then was picked by the Rakuten Golden Eagles in the third round of the 2010 NPB draft. He made his NPB debut on May 1, as a defensive sub for former major leaguer Akinori Iwamura at third base. Abe went 0 for 2 with a strikeout. He was 2-for-22 in his rookie year, then he had a .298/.313/.298 batting line in 30 games in 2012. Abe hit .211/.250/.263 in 2013, and he only got 20 at-bats in 2014. He played a career-high 66 games in 2015, but his batting line fell to .196/.219/.235. Abe struggled in 2012 as his batting line was .185/.185/.259, and he batted .200/.273/.200 in 2017. He announced his retirement after the 2017 season.

Overall, Abe hit .210/.232/.239 with 58 hits in 7 seasons in NPB.
