Biographical Information[edit]

C-3B Toshiaki Takemiya debuted in the Japanese Professional Baseball League with the Yomiuri Giants in 1947, hitting .155/.250/.211 in 57 games. He batted .175/.245/.221 in 88 games in 1948 with only 24 runs produced. In 1949, he improved to .252/.303/.459 with 6 homers in 111 AB.

Takemiya batted .196/.286/.299 in 83 games in 1950. He was just 3 for 23 with two walks and a double in 1951 and 1 for 6 with a walk in 1952. He did not play in either the 1951 Japan Series or 1952 Japan Series.

In 320 games in Japan, Takemiya batted .188/.266/.278. He did hit 14 home runs in 713 AB. After retiring, he coached and managed in the minors for Yomiuri. He then ran Yomiuri's dormitory. He died of pancreatitis at age 88.
