Tony Rossi coached college baseball for 50 years.

Rossi was a SUNY All-Star all three years in college, hitting .477 in 1964. In 1970, he became head coach of Siena College after having coached men's junior lacrosse for three seasons. His starting salary was $200. He won Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference six times and coached future major leaguers Gary Holle, Tim Christman and John Lannan. He won 936 games, setting MAAC and Siena records. When he reached 50 seasons in 2019, he became the NCAA Division I record-holder; only Gordie Gillespie (59 seasons, Division III) and Bob DeFelice (54 seasons, Division II) had longer tenures in NCAA baseball. He also taught math in the Guilderland school district for 34 years. Rossi retired after the 2023 season, his 54 seasons tying DeFelice for the 2nd longest tenure in NCAA history. Source: Siena bio
