Biographical Information

Bob DeFelice was a long-time college coach.

He was signed by the Boston Red Sox. In 1965, he hit .263/.363/.386 for the Wellsville Red Sox, fielding .983 as their primary catcher. He fell to .216/.299/.315 for the '66 Winston-Salem Red Sox then made it to AA in 1967 with the Pittsfield Red Sox, producing at a .180/.256/.192 clip while backing up Jerry Moses behind the dish to finish his minor league career at .235/.326/.335. He also coached for Pittsfield in 1967.

He was the first head coach of Bentley University and had quite a run, guiding the program from 1969 through 2022. He was also athletic director from 1991-2020. He won 848 games and also coached high school football for 17 years during this period. He was in nine Halls of Fame by the time he retired as a college coach. Only Gordie Gillespie had a longer tenure as a college coach.
