Biographical Information[edit]

Tony Parisse was in the majors in 1943 and 1944. He also had a long minor league career and managed at a couple of places.

The book To Every Thing a Season: Shibe Park and Urban Philadelphia, 1909-1976 states that it was rumored Parisse was valuable to the wartime Athletics partly because his father ran a butcher shop, getting the club the best meat.

Parisse was already in his 30's when he came to the majors. The SABR minor league database shows his minor league career only back to 1939, when he was already 28 and a player-manager, but he had played for Drummondville of the Quebec Provincial League in 1937, when that circuit was outside Organized Baseball.

He managed the Wisconsin Rapids White Sox in 1947. He is sometimes called Lou or Louis Parisse.
