Biographical Information[edit]
Tony Balsamo's' only career decision was a loss for the Chicago Cubs on May 15, 1962, against the New York Mets. He started the bottom of the 13th inning with the score tied 5-5, then gave up a single to Rod Kanehl, walked Gil Hodges and struck out Cliff Cook. He was then relieved by Jim Brewer, who gave up a walk to Gus Bell. Brewer was replaced by Cal Koonce, who got Harry Chiti to ground out, forcing Kanehl at home but loading the bases. Koonce then walked Hobie Landrith to force in Hodges with the winning run.
