Biographical Information[edit]
Tom Tewksbury pitched professionally for two years. He went 8-11 with a 4.07 ERA for the Appleton Papermakers in 1953, 6-11, 4.19 for the Wellsville Braves in 1954 and 0-1 for the Quebec Braves that same year. In 1953, he led his weak team in victories (other pitchers were 35-66) but his 24 homers allowed led the Wisconsin State League.
According to a former teammate, Tewksbury was a college graduate and older than most other pitchers for the Appleton team in 1953. He was a finesse-type pitcher, who changed speeds and threw many breaking pitches. He had good control, also, although his fastball lacked good velocity.
