Biographical Information

Tom Stouch played briefly for the 1898 Louisville Colonels, a team which also featured Honus Wagner and player-manager Fred Clarke, both of whom were younger than Stouch. In his brief set of appearances, Stouch hit .313, higher than either Wagner or Clarke hit for the season.

Stouch played more than twenty seasons in the minors, in the southern and eastern parts of the country. He also managed several years in the minors. When he managed at Greenville, he had a young player named Joe Jackson who he was able to sell to the Philadelphia Athletics for $900. He took a train to Philly with Joe but Joe hopped off the train partway there and went home as he was unsure he wanted to leave Greenville. A few days later he arrived in Philly.

Stouch was the baseball coach at the University of Georgia in 1906-1907.
