Biographical Information[edit]
Tom Smith pitched four seasons in the majors in the 1890s, for four different teams. Prior to his debut in June 1894, he was at Fordham University and College of the Holy Cross, where his time there may have overlapped with Jimmy Bannon and Jack McCarthy.
He got the most innings with the 1895 Phillies, where he was four years younger than teammate Ed Delahanty.
He is not to be confused with an earlier Tom Smith, a Canadian who played in the 1870s.
