Biographical Information[edit]
Tom Mazarakis has been a leader in Greek baseball development. Born in the US to Greek parents, he moved back to Greece at age 15. ESPN.com called him the Abner Doubleday of Greek baseball in 2004. Mazarakis formed the Hellenic Amateur Baseball Federation and has coached for the Greek national team in the 2010 European Championship, 2011 Baseball World Cup and 2012 European Championship. He managed Greece in the 2014 European Championship. He has managed the Greek team AS Spartakos Glyfada and even pitched for them in European Cup Qualifiers in 2012, at age 57. He was listed as a pitcher for Greece in the 2011 Baseball World Cup as well but did not play in a game. He was the lead organizer of the 2011 European Cup Qualifier held in Athens.
