Biographical Information[edit]

Thomas Jacquez is the son of Pat Jacquez and nephew of Hank Jacquez. In 1994, his interest in his Latino heritage prompted Thomas to reclaim the Spanish pronunciation of his surname: HA-kez (father Pat uses the Anglicized JACK-wez).

His major league career was a brief one, as he pitched a total of 9 games in the majors, all with the Philadelphia Phillies in September of 2000. In 7 1/3 innings, he gave up 9 runs on 10 hits and 3 walks, for an ERA of 11.05. His professional career ran form 1997 to 2004, starting after he was a 6th-round choice by the Phillies in the 1997 amateur draft out of UCLA. His best minor league season was the one in which he was a September call-up, 2000, when he combined to go 5-4, 2.30 with 4 saves in 48 games between the AA Reading Phillies and AAA Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Red Barons. After going 10-6, 3.13 in 33 games for the Red Barons in 2001, he was claimed off waivers by the Chicago White Sox during the off-season. He pitched two season for the Charlotte Knights, going 0-7 the first year but bouncing back to 5-3, 3.63 in 2003, without making it back to the majors. He finished his career with one season for the AA Bowie Baysox in the Eastern League in 2004, an affiliate of the Baltimore Orioles. He went 4-3, 5.90 in 21 games to end his career.
