Biographical Information[edit]
Tom Glass pitched two games with the Philadelphia Athletics in 1925. Shortly afterwards, he and catcher Jimmie Foxx were released on the same day, although Foxx eventually came back. His only major league victory came thanks to a tremendous comeback by the Athletics: on June 15th, they were trailing the Cleveland Indians, 15-4, late in the game before rallying for 13 runs in the bottom of the 8th to win, 17-15. The A's had actually come back from 12 runs down, as they scored once in the 7th as well, in what is tied for the biggest comeback in major league history. Glass batted once early in the big inning, then was lifted in favor of pinch-hitter Sammy Hale when the A's batted around.
Glass pitched for the Cambridge Canners of the Eastern Shore League in 1923 and 1924. he went 15-5 in 1923 and 16-6 the next year. After his baseball days, he worked as a painter.
