Biographical Information[edit]
Tom Colcolough, who was born and died in Charleston, SC, had his greatest success as a pitcher in the minors with the Charleston Seagulls in 1893, going 16-11. In the majors, Tom pitched for four years with a record of 14-11, mostly for the Pittsburgh Pirates. One teammate was catcher Connie Mack, who became a manager for the team late in the season. Tom hit .225 in the majors, not terrible for a pitcher. He is the only major leaguer whose last name starts with "Colc". This site [1] states that he sometimes played under the name Coakley.
In the minors, Colcolough was with the Wilkes-Barre Barons for three seasons. This site [2] states he became an alderman in Charleston after his baseball days.
