Biographical Information[edit]
Tom Berti was a minor league infielder for two years; his son Jon Berti played professionally.
Tom hit .226/.304/.256 for the 1978 Lakeland Tigers, fielding .957 as their main second baseman and .946 as their #2 shortstop. With the same club the next year, he was 11 for 66 (all singles) with 7 walks. He had hit .215/.294/.238 with four extra-base hits (two of them triples, one double, one homer), 7 steals in 13 tries, 28 runs and 26 RBI in 113 minor league games. He fielded .954 in 78 games at 2B, .946 in 30 games at SS and .917 in 4 games at 3B.
