Biographical Information[edit]
Tom Barnard was a coach and scout.
Barnard coached at Kishwaukee Community College from 1984 to 1992. He was a part-time scout and a coach in the Pittsburgh Pirates chain, including the Watertown Pirates in 1988, Welland Pirates in 1992, and Erie SeaWolves in 1998. He then was Latin American Scouting Coordinator, Midwest Scouting Supervisor and Midwest Scouting CrossChecker for the Pirates. He was named Pirates Scout of the Year in 2002 and pitched in the Home Run Derby at the 2006 All-Star Game. He signed Craig Stansberry and Wardell Starling. In 2007, he left the Pirates after 25 years to work with young athletes.
