Biographical Information[edit]

Todd Frohwirth was signed as a 13th round pick in the 1984 amateur draft by the Philadelphia Phillies and scout Don Williams. He threw a sinking fastball, changeup and slider, but he was best known as one of the most prominent submarine-style pitchers of his day.

In 1999, he was the pitching coach of the Beloit Snappers. He later became a high school basketball coach, leading the Mukwonago High School women's team to the Wisconsin state championship game in 2013. The following year, he joined Marquette University High School as a boys basketball coach. He also coached basketball at his alma mater, Messmer High School, and Whitefish Bay High School before going to Mukwonago.

He worked as a scout for the Baltimore Orioles up to the time of his death from stomach cancer at age 54 in 2017. A son, Tyler Frohwirth, has pitched in the minor leagues.
