Biographical Information[edit]
Reliever Todd Burns enjoyed his finest big league season in his first full season in the majors. Dealing out of the eventual World Series champion Oakland A's bullpen, Todd made 50 appearances with a 6-5, 2.24 record and 8 saves in 96 1/3 innings. He would drift out of the majors following a 1993 split with the Texas Rangers and St. Louis Cardinals, finishing his career with only 252 strikeouts in 489 2/3 innings. An amateur star, he was a member of Team USA when they won a Bronze Medal at the 1983 Pan American Games and a Silver Medal at the 1983 Intercontinental Cup. As a starter in the minors, he tied for the Southern League lead in shutouts with 3 in 1986.
