Tobey Park
Tobey Park or Tobey Field was a temporary ballpark in Memphis, TN that was used by the Memphis Chicks during the 1960 season, their last one in the Southern Association, after their longtime home, Russwood Park, burned down on April 17th. It was completely uncovered, which was a problem for spectators in the Memphis summer heat: on July 31st, the Chicks' game against the Chattanooga Lookouts had to be postponed as the 94-degree heat proved to be unbearable.
Lack of a proper ballpark led to the Chicks not returning for the 1961 season, which was the final one for the Southern Association. The park is now a municipal recreation facility that includes baseball fields, a rugby and football field, and various other amenities. No trace of the ballpark remains.
