Biogrpahical Information[edit]
Tjerk Hogervorst was signed out of the MLB European Academy by the New York Mets in 2007 but was released before he ever appeared in the minor leagues. Along with Frederik Terkelsen, he was one of the first two signees from the academy who never played in the minors.
Hogervorst played for the Netherlands in the 2008 World Junior Championship. That season, he made his Hoofdklasse debut with the Pioniers, hitting .284/.372/.365. He fell to .198/.305/.248 in 2009 with 36 strikeouts in 101 AB. He drew a walk from Dushan Ruzic in his lone plate appearance in the 2009 Holland Series.
