Tim Healey

From BR Bullpen

Tim Healey is the beat reporter covering the New York Mets for Newsday. Born on Long Island, he grew up in Danbury, CT. After graduating from Boston University, he covered a number of sports team including the New England Patriots of the NFL and the Boston Red Sox.

For a time, he was the beat writer covering the Miami Marlins for the South Florida Sun Sentinel before moving to New York, NY to cover the Mets. On June 23, 2019, he was involved in a widely-covered incident in the Mets' clubhouse following a 5-3 loss to the Chicago Cubs. Manager Mickey Callaway did not appreciate some of his questions regarding bullpen usage after the game (Seth Lugo had given up a three-run homer to Javier Baez in the 8th to lose the game), and accused him of antagonizing people and shouted for him to leave the clubhouse, using choice expletives. Pitcher Jason Vargas joined in and threatened to knock him out. The Mets were forced to issue an apology after the incident, which was seen as a symbol of a season going completely out of control.
