Biographical Information[edit]
Starting pitcher Tim Berry has played in the Baltimore Orioles minor league system since 2010 (through 2014).
Berry threw a 17 strikeout no hitter early in his senior season, but injured his elbow shortly after and dropped off teams' radar. He was taken as a late round flier by the Orioles in the 50th round of the 2009 amateur draft. Scouted by Mark Ralston, he was signed for a reported $125,000 and had Tommy John surgery, making his pro debut the next summer.
After posting a 1.35 ERA in 14 relief appearances his first season, Berry had two ho-hum years before going 11-7 with a 3.85 ERA in 27 starts for the Frederick Keys in 2013. He had been ranked the Orioles' 12th-best prospect entering that campaign by MLB.com and following the year, he was named an AFL Rising Star. He began 2014 with the Double-A Bowie Baysox and was named an Eastern League Mid-Season All-Star that year.
