Biographical Information[edit]

Tim Bascom was drafted by the San Diego Padres in the 6th round of the 2006 amateur draft and agreed to a $140,000 signing bonus. When the Padres discovered Bascom had been pitching on a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee, they lowered the offer and Bascom passed. He returned to Florida for surgery, but was subsequently declared ineligible by UCF because of the contract negotiations. Bascom then pitched for the Bradenton Juice in 2007 until the draft. He was then signed by the Baltimore Orioles and scout John Martin as the 4th round pick in the 2007 amateur draft.
