Biographical Information[edit]

Tiffany Brooks was the first American female pitcher in the 21st Century to sign a contract with a professional American men's baseball team when she signed with the Big Bend Cowboys of the Continental Baseball League on March 4, 2010. She attended spring training with the team in Alpine, Texas, and made the team's opening day roster. She was the first woman to do so since Ila Borders in 2000. Brooks had a brief stint with the team before being seeking her release. Although Brooks did not take the field in any game, she did precede Eri Yoshida by a month, who signed on April 9th and played in the Golden Baseball League. It should be noted that the San Angelo Colts signed Kendall Burnham in 2003; she played in 6 games at 2B.

Tiffany Brooks has also competed in various instructional leagues: the California Winter League, the Arizona Summer League, and the Arizona Winter League. She was the first woman to compete in the first two circuits, and shared that distinction with Yoshida with regard to the Arizona Winter League.

Brooks had an unsuccessful tryout with the Rio Grande Valley White Wings in 2010 before playing in the Arizona Summer League in 2011. She is featured in a documentary film, Throw Like a Girl, planned for release in 2012, and in the book The Bus Leagues Experience.
