Tieho Mpota
Tieho Mpota was a LF-P-3B for the Lesotho national team in the 1999 All Africa Games. Relieving Bofihla Maputla with a 43-0 deficit in the 5th inning of the opener against South Africa, he amazingly turned in a shutout frame (1 H, 1 BB). Rockfeller Erima was the only pitcher to blank South Africa in any inning of the tournament. In his other mound outing, he replaced Maputla with a 22-3 deficit in the 4th against Zimbabwe, giving up 2 hits, 6 walks and 9 runs (2 earned) in 2 innings before another mercy rule ending. His 6.00 ERA led Lesotho for the event, 2.22 ahead of Bahzakoan Shelike. Offensively, he was 3 for 7 with a triple, steal and two RBI. Defensively, he made one error. He tied for second on the team in hits, only half of leader Lisema Molise. Among the regulars, only Molise (.462) had a better average as Mpota nearly led the team in both ERA and average.
