Rockfeller Erima

From BR Bullpen

Rockfeller Erima was the star of the Ugandan national team that finished last in the 1999 All Africa Games. He played 2B, SS and 3B as well as pitcher. He went 6 for 11 with a triple, one steal in three tries, one RBI and four errors. He was their only player with more hits than errors (3 players were even, two of them at 0 and 0) and 9 had more errors than hits. Erima had two more hits than team runner-up Paul Kazibwe and led the team in average. On the mound, he tied Henry Odong for a team-high three games pitched out of the five-game event; Paul Ochola was their only other pitcher to hurl a game. Erima went the distance against Gold Medal-winning host South Africa, surrendering 32 hits, 4 walks and 31 runs (18 earned) in a 7-inning mercy rule loss. He relieved Odong in the 4th against Zimbabwe (the Bronze winner) and allowed 6 hits, 5 runs (4 earned) and one walk while fanning one in a 30-1, 5 1/2 inning mercy rule loss. Finally, he went the distance against Lesotho (6 2/3 IP, 7 H, 1 BB, 9 K, 13 R, 4 ER) in another loss; he had 3 hits that game to lead the offense. Erima led Uganda with 15 2/3 IP, over half the team total (Odong was 10 2/3, Ochola 1 1/3), was second in losses (Odong took 3) and led with 12 strikeouts (Odong had 10, Ochola 4). His 14.94 ERA was better than Odong's 29.53.
