Biographical Information[edit]

Minor League pitcher Thomas "Shaky" Kain went 103-79 in 252 games, winning as many as 16 games in a season four times. He was also a rather successful minor league manager. In six seasons as a manager, he made the playoffs all six years, made the finals five times, and won three championships.

Kain scouted for the New York Yankees (1947-1948), Pittsburgh Pirates (1949-1951), Philadelphia Phillies (1956-1959), and Chicago Cubs (1960-1968).

Away from the diamond, Kain was a Southeastern Conference football referee for 28 years. He was considered the top referee at the time, being selected to 14 straight Senior Bowls.

Trivia[edit]

  • He played football as a fullback and halfback while at the University of Georgia.
  • He was elected to the Tennessee Sports Hall of Fame in 1986.
