Biographical Information[edit]

Pitcher Thomas Frondorf played in the minor leagues from 1963 to 1972. He started out in the Cincinnati Reds system and also pitched in the Pittsburgh Pirates and New York Yankees systems. He spent six different seasons at AAA, but never made it to the majors. He was taken by the Pirates from the Reds in the minor league portion of the 1968 Rule V Draft. On October 15, 1970, he was traded by the Pirates to the Yankees along with Jerry Branch and Ed Pacheco for Dave Kent, Charlie Sands and Gary Washington; of the six players involved in that trade, only Sands played in the majors (he had appeared in one game for the Yankees in 1967, and would go on to play five more seasons in the bigs).

In 260 games over 10 minor league seasons, Frondorf went 65-42 with a 3.27 ERA.

According to newspaper clippings, he married Maureen Quatman in March of 1967 in Cincinnati, OH and attended Xavier University for a semester after signing with the Reds. He helped to pitch Elder High School to a state championship in 1962. He was generally called "Tom" during his playing career.
