Biographical Information[edit]

Thom Brennaman is a broadcaster who has worked for the FOX network and has also been with the Arizona Diamondbacks starting with the club's inaugural season in 1998. Previously, he had worked for the Chicago Cubs from 1990 to 1995 and the Cincinnati Reds prior to that, and returned to the Reds in the 2000s. He also worked on NFL broadcasts for FOX.

His father, Ford Frick Award winner Marty Brennaman, was a long-time Reds broadcaster, retiring after the 2019 season. In 2007, Thom joined his father in broadcasting Reds games. On August 19, 2020, he was working a Reds game on Fox Sports Ohio when he made a homophobic remark on-air before the start of the game, when he did not realize his microphone was live. While he apologized a couple of hours later, and left the ongoing broadcast immediately, his remark caused a furor and he was immediately suspended by the network. The Reds were quick to disassociate themselves from his remarks, as well as FOX, and he lost all of his announcing gigs. He tried to apologize, but it was too late. On September 25th, he resigned formally from his job as an on-air announcer for the Reds.

Thom went to Ohio University and lives in Scottsdale, AZ.
