The Sporting News Research Center
The Sporting News Research Center was operated by The Sporting News from the late 1980s until 2006. Run by Steve Gietschier, it helped organize a century of materials held by The Sporting News and made them available for researchers, greatly facilitating baseball research in the Midwest. The Center helped publicize the sports photos of Charles Conlon, which were reprinted in baseball cards and art books. The center closed following a change of ownership of the magazine.
