The Long Season
The Long Season (ISBN 1566634180) is ground-breaking diary of his 1959 season pitching for the St. Louis Cardinals, written by relief pitcher Jim Brosnan and published in 1960. He followed it up two years later with Pennant Race.
The book is considered a classic of baseball writing and a precursor to other "tell-all" books, most famously Jim Bouton's Ball Four. Brosnan, famously, was the first baseball player to write an autobiographical book without the help of a ghostwriter.
