Kansas City Star
(Redirected from The Kansas City Star)
The Kansas City Star is the major newspaper in Kansas City, MO and was founded in 1880. Joe McGuff spent his career with the Star, first as a sports reporter, then as sports editor, and finally as Editor of the newspaper. Dick Kaegel and Joe Posnanski have been writers for the newspaper as well. Dr. D.M. Shiveley was sports editor for a period. Ernest Hemingway got his start in journalism with the paper and wrote the occasional story about baseball.
For many years it was paired with the Kansas City Times, the Times being the morning paper and the Star the evening edition. The Times has since ceased publication.
Its main competition during the first half of the 20th century was the Kansas City Journal, which it bought out in the 1940s.
