Dick Kaegel

Dick Kaegel has covered the St. Louis Cardinals for the St. Louis Post-Dispatch from 1968 to 1980. In 1981, he became the managing editor of The Sporting News, staying until 1985. He covered the Kansas City Royals for the Kansas City Star from 1988 to 2003 and worked for MLB.com after that, retiring in 2014. He has served on the Hall of Fame Veterans Committee.

In 2020, he was named the winner of the J.G. Taylor Spink Award for excellence in baseball writing and was to be honored as part of the 2021 Hall of Fame induction ceremony.
