Biographical Information[edit]
Teun Gaartman was a speedy outfielder in the Netherlands. He debuted in the top Dutch league from 1946-1955, playing for HHC (1946-1951), Schoten (1952), VVGA (1953) and HHC again (1954-1955). The Dutch national team did not play in any major events at this time (the European Championship was formed late in his career) but he played for them in exhibitions against Belgium in 1948, 1949, 1950 and 1952 and against England in '52.
He played in lower baseball leagues from 1956-1968 and then coached for six years (the Storks from 1969-1971, HCK in 1972, Giants Diemen in 1973-1974), finishing as high as second. He was also an official and coach in women's softball. He played tennis for the Enkhuizer Tennis Club as well, competing in international tournaments for seniors at age 71.
