Biographical Information[edit]

Terry Powers pitched in the minor leagues from 1990 to 1994. He was taken by the Boston Red Sox in the 11th round of the 1990 amateur draft, between future major leaguers Darren Dreifort and Jay Powell.

In his first campaign, Powers struggled to a 0-8 record and a 4.12 ERA in 14 games (13 starts) between two clubs. In 1991, with the Winter Haven Red Sox, he was 8-7 with a 4.60 ERA in 25 games (15 starts) and in 1992, with the same club, he was 5-10 with a 4.51 ERA in 21 starts. On December 8, 1992, he was traded with pitcher Mike Gardiner to the Montreal Expos for outfielder Iván Calderón. With the West Palm Beach Expos in 1993, Powers went 6-3, 4.25 in 24 games (13 starts) and in 1994, his final campaign, he went 0-1, 8.41 in 11 relief appearances between two clubs.

Overall, Powers went 19-29 with a 4.60 ERA in 95 games (62 starts) over five seasons. In 418 1/3 innings, he allowed 427 hits and 203 walks (1.506 WHIP), while striking out 284 batters.
